About this site
About SalonCompass
A beauty and wellness safety reference written for the person in the chair: whether a treatment is safe for you, and which treatments actively help the condition you have.
This page is still being written
The person behind this site has not written her own account of it yet, and we are not going to invent one on her behalf. Her name and credentials are below, on every page she has written, and in the schema behind them. Until she writes the rest, this page stays out of search results.
SalonCompass answers two questions about beauty and wellness treatments. The first is the one everybody asks: is this safe for me, given my condition, my medication, my pregnancy, my cancer treatment. The second is the one almost nobody answers: what actually helps — which treatments are recommended for the condition you have, rather than merely permitted.
It is written for you, not for your salon. Every page addresses the person deciding whether to book, in plain English, with the medical term in brackets where it helps you search. Verdicts come from published guidance, each one is shown with the source it came from, and where the sources have no answer the page says so instead of guessing. How that works in detail is set out in our editorial policy.
The site is written and maintained by one person, named in the byline below. A medical reviewer is being appointed, and pages about treatment for cancer are held back from showing safety ratings until that sign-off is in place.
